The Star Realms Cup is a two stage tournament, beginning with the Group Stage and proceeding to the Knockout Stage. Each stage of the tournament should take about one week, so the tournament itself should take about two weeks, during which players will have at least ten games (more if they qualify for the Knockout Stage).

Format: All games will be Type 1B (Year One + Bases & Battleships). The tournament will cap at 96 players, which will result in 16 groups of 6 players each.

Group Stage:  Each group plays a round robin, one match of 2 games against each player. Three standings points are awarded for a win, and one point is awarded for a draw (If each player wins one of the two games, the match is considered a draw, and both players earn one point). The top three players from each group will advance to the knockout stage, with group winners receiving a first-round bye in the Knockout Stage.

Tiebreakers:

1. If two players are tied, the head-to-head winner gains the tiebreaker. If there is no head-to-head winner, the tie is broken by score differential.

2. If three or more players are tied, and one player has defeated the other two, that player advances. Otherwise, the player with the highest score differential gains the tiebreaker.

Knockout Stage: All players advancing from the Group Stage advance to a single-elimination tournament. NEW: Group winners will receive first-round byes. Matches in the Knockout Stage are best 2-out-of 3, and this tournament continues until only one player is left.

Score Reporting: Please report all games scores to the proper thread in the Facebook Event created for this tournament. In the Group Stage, since two games are played against the same player, please report both games at once. Any format is fine, but please remember to include the scores of both games, as they are used in tiebreakers. **Please note: Any game in which the winner is reported without a score will be entered as a score of 10 to -10. **
