Hello and welcome to Season 2

If you’re receiving this email, your team is participating in our upcoming Premier League qualifiers.  Here’s an overview of the event:

Qualifiers will be held as a swiss-system tournament- if you’re unfamiliar with this, the format starts with random pairings and then matches teams in subsequent rounds based on the number of games they’ve won.  Unlike some swiss-system tournaments, a draw is prohibited, so we’d encourage each team to play hard each game!

Rounds will last until we are able to cut to 19 teams, which will join the auto-qualifiers from Season 1 to create a 32-team Premier League.  If multiple teams from a particular school make the cut, we will only admit the higher-placing team, but there is no restriction on multiple teams from the same school attempting to qualify.

We have 6 scheduled rounds, and if the last spot before the cut is tied after this, we will have a playoff tiebreaker immediately following the last round.  We are not anticipating this to be a major issue, but some teams may have to stick around to play it out.  The schedule is as follows:

Round 1-> Sept 6 at 9:30pm EDT

Round 2-> Sept 7 at 9:30pm EDT

Round 3-> Sept 8 at 3pm EDT

Round 4-> Sept 8 at 4:30pm EDT

Round 5-> Sept 8 at 6pm EDT

Round 6-> Sept 8 at 7:30pm EDT

Round 7-> WILL NOT BE PLAYED, PLEASE IGNORE THIS ROUND ON THE BRACKET

The brackets will be posted to www.challonge.com/IvyLoLS2Qualifiers. On the brackets, teams will be listed as TEAM_NAME – COORDINATOR_NAME. For example, Pat’s Mad Scientists – Cruel42.  The higher seeded team always makes the game and then invites the coordinator for the other team.  Games will be a best of 1, Tournament Draft, on Summoners Rift, with higher seeded team on blue side.  Shortly you should receive an email asking you to sign-up for Challonge so that you may report matches for the tournament. Should you have any questions or match reporting disputes, please feel free to contact an IvyLoL.  You can usually find one in the IvyLoL chat channel.

After the qualifiers, teams that make the cut will have their first Premier League match the next day (Sunday) at 5pm EDT.  All teams that do not make the cut will be rolled down into the Open League with a bye for the first week (byes count as a match win in the standings, so this is not a penalty).
