If your GGPO username is different from your Reddit/IRC username, please put both names so I can find who I’m supposed to be spectating easier.
GhettoThrasher cleaned up at Marvel vs Capcom 1, and chose King of Fighters 2002 for our next tournament. We drop the gauntlet at 8PM EST on Monday, June 11 (aka Monday After Next).
Standard tournament rules – 2/3 normal rounds, 3/5 for Winners, Losers and Grand Finals, double elimination, you know the drill. Since we’re going to be switching games for each tournament, we’ll be using random seed to keep things interesting and relatively fair. In the event we don’t get the necessary minimum 8 players for a proper Double Elimination tournament, we’ll run Round Robin (up to 5 entrants) or 4 Round Swiss (6-7 entrants). I’ll play if the number of entrants deems it necessary (IE to prevent a first round bye, or in the event of Swiss/Round Robin), otherwise I’ll just be running the brackets and casting.
In the event of GGPO connection issues, matches will be played with the inferior netcode of Supercade. Make sure you have installations of both set up and configured properly. If you can’t connect on either for some reason, we’ll figure it out at the time. Maybe an IRC vote, maybe I’ll just DQ whoever is currently doing better for potential underdog runbacks, who knows. We’ll figure it out if it comes to it. Please make sure both are configured properly, ask for help with configuration and testing in our IRC channel if you need it.
The prize for winnar is bragging rights, and getting to pick what we play in our next GGPO tournament from a list of games we’ve decided don't suck for competitive play (unless you’ve won in the last 2 tournaments, in which case I’ll go down the results until I find someone who hasn’t won).
Be in IRC at 7:30PM EST to test connections. We start at 8PM sharp.
