1. The losers bracket on Challonge doesn't match a bracket I found elsewhere. Which bracket is correct?

Challonge challonges you to find an error in the algorithm for populating its losers brackets. A considerable amount of time was spent on the algorithm to minimize rematches and give seeds the rights they deserve. Please let us know if you find something that looks wrong and we'll gladly discuss it with you.

2. What rules does Challonge use for its Swiss tournaments?

Challonge is aiming to follow the Swiss rules of the World Chess Federation (FIDE), but still have some work to do. Once we're completely in line with their requirements, we'll be sure to make this information known.

3. Does Challonge offer any scheduling options (time & place) for tournament matches?

Not yet. For now, all scheduling details can go in the tournament description or on your website or forum.

4. How do I run a multi-stage tournament on Challonge?

Challonge doesn't have an automated system for handling multi-stage tournaments, so you'll have to create a separate tournament for each stage. However, if you use a common tag among the stages (the name of your tournament is a good option), people can view all the stages by visiting your profile page with that tag as a filter: http://challonge.com/user/profile/[YOUR ID]?tag=[TAG NAME]

5. How long do premium bracket module credits last?

This depends on your website. Each time someone views a page on your website containing a premium Challonge bracket module, 1 credit is deducted from your account. If you're looking for some numbers, 5,000 credits ($5) will last for 10 tournaments in which 50 people view each bracket 10 times.

6. How can I make my premium bracket module credits last longer?

To avoid losing credits too quickly, you should embed your bracket on pages that aren't high-traffic. Also, once a tournaments ends, you may want to take a screen capture of the completed bracket and serve up the image instead of the Challonge module.

7. I'd like to merge 2 or more Challonge accounts into 1. Is this possible?

Yes, but we don't have an automated process for this yet. Please contact us with the email addresses of the accounts you want to merge and note which one you'd like to keep. We'll send emails out to validate your request before making the changes.
