CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. The tournament will be conducted under QBSA State Tournament Guidelines unless a different condition is listed below or on the tournament poster.  

2. The tournament will be played according to the Rules of English Billiards as per the WPBSA Handbook, with the exception of the baulk-line crossing rule, which will not be played.  All matters pertaining to the ABSC Player’s Code of Conduct will be adhered to.

3. Pennant standard dress is required at a minimum and must be worn for all group stage games. (Polo - plain or snooker related, or collared button up shirt, full-length dress trousers, socks and enclosed leather dress shoes – NO NON-SNOOKER BRANDED POLOS, CHINOS, JEANS, CASUAL PANTS, CASUAL SHOES OR SNEAKERS). Full dress will be required for semi-finals and final on Sunday.  Failure to comply with this condition will result in forfeiture of the match.

4. Entry is open to both males and females who are members of the QBSA (including social members).

5. All Entrants will be fully seeded into Groups based on the current Queensland Billiards Ranking list. If a player does not have a Queensland Ranking, they will be randomly drawn into the remaining positions.

6. If the defending Champion enters the event, they will be granted the Number 1 Seed.

7. After the Group Stage, the top 2 players from each group will progress to the knockout stage.  Group placement will be decided on most games won, then points differential, then results between tied players.  The knockout brackets will be re-seeded as follows:

A) Players that top their group will be placed into one group and re-seeded based on i) least number of games lost; ii) average points differential; iii) if two or more players are tied, their seeding position will revert to their current Qld ranking, if players do not have a ranking, placing will be randomly drawn

B) Players that finish second in their group will be placed into two groups dependent on where the player who topped their group is positioned in the knockout draw.  Second placed players will be placed into the opposite half of the knockout draw then re-seeded based on i) least number of games lost; ii) average points differential; iii) if two or more players are tied, their seeding position will revert to their current Qld ranking, if players do not have a ranking, placing will be randomly drawn.

8. The match format will be 60 minutes group stage round robin games (held Friday 26/7/24 & Saturday 27/7/24).  75 minute qualifying finals, 75 minute quarter finals will also be held on Saturday 27/7/24, and 90 minute semi finals and 120 minute final will be held Sunday 28/7/24. GAMES WILL BE PLAYED ACCORDING TO THE PLAYING SCHEDULE (order may differ from order stated on Challonge).

9. The tournament will commence each day as advertised.

10. Entries will only be received via online via the QBSA website. Full payment of the applicable entry fee, payable to the QBSA, will be required before Monday 22/7/24.

11. Qualified Referees will be provided for the knockout stages. Players will be expected to referee during the group stage. 

12. All players are to report to the Tournament Director at least 15 minutes before their scheduled starting time and are to be ready to play at this time.

13. Any player not in attendance at the scheduled starting time will be give 50 points to their opponent. After 15 minutes has elapsed, the absent player will forfeit the game (with the game removed when calculating average points differential). This also applies to players not correctly attired at the game starting time.

14. This form constitutes part of the conditions of entry. Changes may be made at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

15. All players may be subject to a drug test according to the ABSC Anti Drugs Policy.

16. No players or officials are permitted to drink alcohol during a match.

17. No prize money will be awarded for this tournament.
