You’ll need to join the Aether Eclipse Discord server here: https://discord.gg/Jtz2W4b
Joining the Discord servers helps the tournament organizers locate participants and keep track of matches easier and quicker. We'll be using the tournnament chat text channel during the tournament.
You must be in the US or Canada to be able to compete.
Your Challonge username needs to be the same or as close as possible to your Discord or Steam display name.
You must check-in on the Challonge bracket. The current running tournament will be announced on Discord. The Challonge website will remove players automatically who do not check-in. Check-ins open an hour before the tournament starts and are open until the start of the tournament. The tournament is not affected by players signing up and missing the tournaments. Feel free to sign-up for any tournaments regardless if you know you can make the tournament or not. If you are too late to sign-up or check-in you will not be able to join. If you are running slightly late please let a tournament admin know beforehand.
During the tournament, you need to be in the Aether Eclipse Discord server in the tournament_chat channel. This is necessary for opponents to be able to quickly and easily find each other.
Tournament Organizers will announce when the bracket is final and the tournament has started in the Aether Eclipse discord in the tournament chat room. When this is announced, refresh your Challonge bracket and find your opponent's name. If you can not locate your current opponent through the Discord or Steam, let a Tournament Organizer (TO) know quickly in the chat or by a direct message. The TOs of the steam tournies are ShottySmores, SamPai, Menece and FireFinesse.
After a series is completed you may self-report the set score on the Challonge bracket. The Challonge bracket will update automatically for you to find your next opponent. We recommend recording the last moments of matches or save replays, just in case someone reports a false win. We have no tolerance of cheating whatsoever.
If either player is experiencing any connection problems contact a tournament admin immediately. The tournament admin will go through steps to resolve the connection issues and take appropriate actions from there.
If your connection doesn't meet the requirements for tournament play, you will, unfortunately, be disqualified and not allowed to play.
If for any reason you need to leave the tournament early or have issues not covered above, contact a TO immediately.
Players are expected to behave in a reasonable and respectable manner. Players may be disqualified, suspended or possibly banned from Aether Eclipse events for not doing so.
Players must sign up as the same Challonge name every week. This is needed to help seed the tournament properly. If you are signing up with a new Challonge name or would like to have it changed, go to “your settings” on the bracket page.
You must have an adequate internet connection to compete. You may be disqualified from the tournament if your connection is unable to keep up at a reasonable level. We HIGHLY recommend playing directly connected to your modem/router. This is especially helpful for playing people around the region.
If a player loses connection during a match (not counting desyncs), that player will forfeit that current match. Opposing players may allow to restart the disconnected match if they agree to do so. When a match desyncs, contact a tournament admin immediately and that match will be replayed with the same stock count. After each player removes any stocks needed the match will start on an agreed upon signal. This could be both players taunting, the clock at an agreed time or anything both players can agree on.
Depending on the tournament participant size. The tournament will be most likely double elimination, but if the tournament is 6 or less, it will be a round robin tournament. All players will have the chance to compete in a minimum of two sets.
All sets will be played in a best two out of three formats. Top 8 however will be played in a best three out of five formats. If you are unsure what the format of your current set is, contact a tournament admin immediately.
Stages are struck using in-game stage-striking, with last-stage striking for the first game, and winner-strikes-two after that.
When choosing stages, you cannot return to any stage you have previously won on without the consent of your opponent. If your opponent picks a stage they have previously won without your approval, contact an admin immediately. If a player returns to a stage they have previously won, SD all stocks and let a tournament admin know. If the whole match is played out then it means both players are fine with the selected stage.
Depending on the number of players in one tournament. Players earn a certain amount of season points. This is used for the seasonal ranking system we have in place and for top players to win some good prizes! Remember, the more people in the tournament, the more points players earn in placements!
To check how many points can be earned in a tournament, you can check below or on the discord server in the #season_1_info channel.
Please also keep in mind that the Xbox and Steam rankings/season are in two different divisions. You are allowed to participate in both unless you were banned previously from past tournaments or Aether Eclipse.
At the end of the Season, the top 8 highest ranked players will compete in a double elimination bracket. The top 3 players in this bracket will receive their cash/prizes!
