ALTTP NMG Tournament 2018

Organized by

  • MARCH 25th -- Group matches begin!
  • MAY 1st -- Brackets begin!

Registration will be capped at 128 entries, but we WILL still be taking signups if the cap is reached. Any entries beyond 128 will be placed on a waiting list. If you do not have a PB by March 4th, you may be dropped from the tournament in favor of a runner with a PB if there is one on the waiting list. All lists are first-come, first-serve.

The tournament will be ran as a round-robin seeded by PB advancing to a single elimination seeded by best group-stage race time. Players will be expected to play 1 game per week, but may play more as scheduling permits.

If you do not make yourself available for a match, and do not contact your opponent(s) AND the admins to make other arrangements, your opponent(s) will win by default, and you will be eliminated from the tournament.

The seeding of the round-robin will be determined first by the runner's Any% NMG time as listed on as of Saturday, March 17, 2018 23:59 EST. In case of ties, the seeds for the tied players will be randomly determined among those players involved in the tie. If the runner does not have a PB submitted to any leaderboard, they will be asked to show proof of a completed run streamed on Twitch, or a completed SRL race. If the runner does not have any completed runs, they may be dropped from the tournament.

The race category will be Any% No Major Glitches (No S+Q*) .

  • Runs start on file select and end upon entering the Triforce room.
  • Out of Bounds glitches, Exploration Glitch and YBA are banned.
  • Saving and quitting or death abusing to emulate a save warp is also banned.
  • ZSNES and SNES9x 1.43 and below are banned. SNES Classic IS allowed as well as Virtual Console.
  • *S+Q is allowed to Link's House if you fail Fake Flippers (S+Q before moving or you will softlock!). During GROUPS, S+Q to Link's House and proceed however you wish. During BRACKETS, you must FIRST return to the bush by the fake flippers setup before proceeding however you wish.

All rules apply. All participants must use approved emulators/consoles and stream their races. We recommend that you locally save your race-stream file in the event that your stream is disconnected and you are “proofcalled” on your time. If you are not registered with SR.TV, please do so now. If you do not know how to set up or use an SR.TV account, please contact a moderator for assistance. Once the race is completed, please get in contact with a member of the admin team to update the standings and times.

Scheduled matches need to be played before the specified deadline for each round.

You will be given 7-10 days to play each match, depending on the round.  We realize that a tournament of this magnitude has a lot of people with a lot of schedules to work around. That being said, if you schedule a match with someone and then bail on the scheduled time without prior notice, you may be removed from the tournament at the organizer's discretion.

If your race is being restreamed, you MUST disable all overlays, graphics, or stream alerts covering your game feed or timer and use game audio ONLY. If it happens during the race, you will need to correct it. A second offense is a forfeit of your current race. This includes but is not limited to: chat popups, sub alerts, follow alerts, host notifications, cheer notifications, and donation alerts.

Any disputes will be handled by the mod team, who will have final say in all matters.  Should a member of the mod team be involved in the dispute, that member will have no say in the final decision.

Discuss and schedule a time to play your match against your opponent. We recommend using the Discord Server or Challonge, but other methods of communication are certainly welcome.

When both participants are ready, create a race on SR.TV and follow the instructions on screen.

Prior to starting any given race, each racer is to provide their opponent with a single random letter for their filename for the race.

When both participants have exchanged filenames, have their stream available, and are waiting on a file on the file select screen, click on the green button to Ready up.

The race bot will then begin to countdown in the race chat, and upon reaching 0 both players will begin the race. The conclusion of these races is when you lose control of Link after defeating Ganon.

Once you have reached this screen, click on the Done button.

And that’s it. Once the race is completed, please get in contact with a member of the admin team to update the standings and times. Congratulations!

FAQs / Q&As

  • In the rare case of a race tie (as determined by the completion times recorded on SR.TV), racers will have to replay the race.  We don’t think this will happen, but wanted to spell that out.

  • If your or SR.TV name does not match your Challonge name, please contact the mods so we can assign the correct PB to you.
