Promode.  What can be said about it?  It's a Quake III Arena modification that to this day plays like no other.  What's needed to play it?  Quick fingers.  A reaction speed like no other.  Ingenuity.


This game is fast.  Reaction time.  Highly recommended. Fingers.  Always ready. Ears.  Tuned in. This game is not a joke.  Some call it a lifestyle.  Some call it a curse.  Once you understand the mechanics of it, you’ll never want to let it go. 


The credo: is simple - play more promode.


Will you play it? Or will you be a bystander watching the greatest arena shooter of all time? As dreams get shattered, while new Promode legends are forged, while some other people just get burnt out and quit in the middle of the heated competition ... what you do will define you. Will you go out in a blaze of glory or will you come out on top?

Requirements:

It is open to all people in North and South America (other continents need not sign up). Please come with a positive attitude and treat other player's as you would like to be treated with the fullest respect. Please be courteous.

All demos should be recorded - if you are asked to provide a demo for a match, there should be no reason to not have one. Ensure that \seta cg_autoaction "7" or "135" is in your config prior to matches. Failure to present a demo (or demos) upon request will result in that match being voided/forfeited regardless of the outcome.


Tournament Format:

Group stages will be played prior to play-offs. Depending on the number of sign ups - the number of groups will be determined. Group stages will be played best of three. If there is a tie prior to play-offs, frag differentials will be used to determine who advances.


Those who do not advance to the play-offs will have their own Division 2 final! Consider it the best from who is left :) there will be a prize of $14.29 USD to whoever tops the best of those players in Division 2. The division 2 brackets page is found here: https://challonge.com/APCDiv2#/


Maps will be picked according \callvote random "2h" or "2t" - the winner of the cointoss will pick their map. The next player will pick their map. Then the winner of the toss will drop a map. Then the following player will drop a map. This will repeat until a single map remains to be a tie breaker.


Play-offs will be best of five. Maps will be picked similarly: (1) pick (2) pick (1) pick (2) pick (1) drop (2) drop (map remaining is final map).

Settings and Weapon Respawn Times
Maps are to be played with 5 second weapon respawn times with the exception of cpm3a and cpm15 which are to be played with 15 second weapon respawn times. Standard 1v1 settings should be applied with CPM rulesets. In the event players have already started a game and neglected to play with the correct weapon respawn time - if neither player noticed - or if they noticed and continued to play - these matches will be deemed valid.


Servers:

Any server running CPMA 1.50 that is in the Americas.


Server Selection:

Servers must be selected so that all players have pings that are as close to parity as possible. Disputes over server selection can be settled by reaching out to a referee.


Lag/Intermittent Issues:

In the event that a player mid-match experiences "lags," "connection interruptions," "999's," the match is considered to still be live. Timeouts may be utilized but beyond the maximum allowable timeouts per the server limit, no others shall be given. Regardless of emergencies, power outages, Internet instability, etc. if a player has started a match and is in the middle of a game, the opponent does not need to restart the map on their behalf.  it is the player's responsibility to ensure they are properly equipped to start a match prior to readying. Resetting a map for an opponent or rescheduling is good sportsmanship, but not required.


Cheating and Other Miscreant Behavior:

Unacceptable and not allowed.
