Event Rules:
Racetime.gg will be used for each of the qualifiers to create lobbies and record times. Racers must make an account and link it to their Twitch stream
Racers are allowed to watch/listen to the restream and their opponent
If a match is being re-streamed, racers should provide clean audio (no Streamlabs alerts, no mic, only game sounds).
There will be eight qualifier races that determine making the bracket and seeding.
There will be a total of 48 players in the brackets
The top 24 will make the Mawkin bracket
The next 24 will make the Thoha bracket
Players must play in AT LEAST TWO qualifiers and seeding will be determined by the average of their two best times
Participants may race in as many qualifiers as they like
Qualifiers 1 and 2: Saturday, November 5th at 10:00am EDT, 6:00pm EDT

On Challonge this will be referred to as “finals”
The winners finals, losers semifinals, and losers finals will be a Bo3
On Challonge this will be referred to as “semifinals, losers round 6, and losers round 7”
Every other match will be Bo1
Thoha Bracket
The grand finals will be a Bo3 with the following match being a Bo1 if necessary
On Challonge this will be referred to as “finals”
Every other match will be Bo1
Please schedule matches within 5 days. Please also try your best to schedule your matches at least 24 hours ahead of time. We may not be able to restream a match that is too short notice. Scheduling conflicts or other unforeseen circumstances will be dealt with via admin discretion.
If a player is a no-show, that player will forfeit the match.
A player will be considered a no-show if they are not in the race room by 15 minutes after the scheduled start time and made no effort to contact their opponent or the admins.
Even if said contact is made, if a race is unable to be played at that time, or reasonably be rescheduled within the deadline, the player that was the original no-show will forfeit the match.
If both players are considered no-shows, both players will forfeit their next round (lower seed forfeiting first).
Players will use Racetime to time and record their races. The final time listed on RT will be the official time for the match. Races will use standard Racetime rules as well as the following:
All players are required to stream their matches.
All players must have a timer running.
Players must have racetime accounts that are connected to their twitch accounts.
All files should start at 3:00 with the intro sequence completed.
Players may use Digital or Physical version Metroid Dread. No emulator allowed
While it is recommended to use the latest update of Metroid Dread (2.1.0), you may use an older update. However you are reminded that you are running it with a risk of crashing (IE crash bridge or PB during escape or any other crash instances).
Default mode for races will be Rookie mode. However, a gentleman’s agreement to run on Normal or Hard is allowed. Dread mode is not allowed.
Turbo controllers up to 12hz are allowed.
Major glitches are banned. This includes (but is not limited to):
Shine Sink
Camera Lock
Slope Clip
Ledge Climb Clip
Reverse Magnet
Grappling magnets through walls
Axis Skew
Upside-Down Samus
If you are unsure whether a specific glitch is considered a major glitch please ask a tournament organizer.
Players must have clean audio. Mic’s and alerts should be turned off.
In the event of a forfeit, the win will be awarded to the opposing player. It is understood that accidental forfeits happen and can be reviewed in good faith. It is expected that the winner will finish out the run.
If the racetime results are within 3 seconds and the winner is unclear, the loser may request a frame count in the racetime lobby to determine the winner of the race.
If a frame count is requested and confirmed to be warranted, both racers’ VODs (not racetime time) will be timed to determine the winner.
While not required, it is highly recommended that runners locally record all their races. If your stream goes down during a race (internet issues) you may be asked to provide proof of your finish time. If you have internet or technical issues (for a moderate/significant period of time) and cannot provide a local recording then you will be forfeited from that match. Even a phone camera pointed at your game feed and timer may save the race!
