The Hyper Universe community tournament will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018.


The tournament will be 4v4 BO3 single elimination.

Please note that this is a tournament for North America, so the server location will be NA. However, all are welcome to play in the tournament. In the future, we hope to hold tournaments for other regions as well.


When registering as a team, please include all 4 team members' in-game names  in the description (or 5, if registering with a sub).  REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED AND BRACKETS HAVE BEEN FINALIZED


Here is our schedule of matches. Times throughout the day may vary depending on if teams finish their matches early and want to continue playing.


10am PDT: Group Stage Matches 

- We will be shoutcasting 1 of these matches. If the match finishes early, we will see if other matches are going on and jump in to cast.


11:30am PDT: Final Stage Round 1 

- We will be shoutcasting 1 of these matches. If the match finishes early, we will see if other matches are going on and jump in to cast.


1-1:30pm PDT Break


1:30pm PDT Semifinal Match 1 

- We will be shoutcasting Game 1


1:30pm PDT Semifinal Match 2

- We will be shoutcasting Game 2


3-3:30pm PDT Break


3:30pm PDT Bronze Match 

- This match will be shoutcasted


Depending on how long the Bronze Match takes. 

5pm PDT or TBA Time: Finals

- And of course, this match will be shoutcasted as well


General

1. Tournament Organizer

The Tournament Organizer (TO) has the right to use their judgement to ensure that all games are played to completion in a fair way.


2. Referees

Referees may be used to help handle disputes, interpret rules, and other activities in the tournament.

  • Dealing with game or policy rule violations that are brought to their attention
  • Issuing penalties for violations and notifying other referees about the ruling
  • Referees’ responsibilities should include:
  • Referee will be monitoring the match for excessive lagging or technical difficulties. While we’ll call for a redo should a technical malfunction change the entire pace of the match at a crucial moment, the exact definition of a crucial moment may vary and the decision is reserved solely to the referee.

3. Match Disputes

  • All players are required to play a match to completion or face a forfeit. If you have a dispute during a match, inform the TO or referee after the match has completed with proof, such as screenshots.

4. Type of Bracket

The type of bracket is up to the TO’s discretion.

  • This tournament will be Single Elimination.

5. Player Participation

All players must use their in-game name to register. This is required to invite players to a custom game, check the correct player is playing, and distribute prizing.

Match Settings:

  • Custom Game: Ranked
  • Map: Delta Station

Team Rosters

  • Rosters must consist of a minimum of four players.

Substitute Players

  • One substitute player, also referred to as “subs” or “ringers”, is allowed as long as they are registered to the team. Substitute players can only be used if a main roster player is unable to play a match.

Pick/Ban Order

  • Coin Toss / RPS determines which team gets first pick for the round.
  • For subsequent rounds, the losing team may choose to be either first or second pick.

Servers

Server location is up to the TO’s discretion.

  • Please note that this is a tournament for North America, so the server location will be NA. However, teams from EU are welcome to play in the tournament. In the future, an EU tournament will be held.

Match Reporting

  • Referees will be recording match results and reporting to the TO.

No Show Policy

  • If a team is more than 15 minutes late after the scheduled match time that team will automatically forfeit the match.

Casting/Streaming

  • Casting and personal streaming should only be allowed if the TO allows it. Please contact the TO of the tournament you are playing in the tournament to confirm if it is allowed.

Insults and Abusive Behavior

Organizers and participants in all events are expected to act in a humane way. Insults and abusive behavior includes but are not limited to:

  • Threats of violence
  • Sexual harassment
  • Stalking
  • Hate speech
  • Aggressive/violent behavior

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

In addition to the above, the following list is also considered a breach of the code of conduct and may result in a ban from future events:

  • Failure to follow official tournament instructions
  • Collusion
  • Bribery/Wagering
  • Theft

Cheating / Hacking

  • Any use of cheats, hacks, exploits, or any form of assistance outside of the game will result in a ban from participating in or organizing future events.

Violations

The following are considered violations and may result in a penalty:

  • Tardiness
  • Outside Assistance
  • Aggressive Behavior

Penalties

TOs and referees are responsible for issuing penalties to players.

Penalties may include:

  • Warnings
  • Match or game loss
  • Disqualification

Disqualification

  • TOs and referees may disqualify teams at their discretion to keep the tournament running as smooth and efficiently as possible.


FAQ

Q: When is this tournament taking place and which server?

A: May 12, 2018. North America server since this is a NA tournament. However, EU teams are welcome to join. We’re planning an EU tournament in the future too!


Q: Are any Hypers banned from this tournament?

A: Yes, Dr. Schmidt will be banned from this tournament. This is because his release is too close to the tournament date.


Q: Are subs eligible for prizes?

A: Subs can only receive prizes if they played a majority of the matches.


Q: What happens if I disconnect or have technical difficulties?

A: Ultimately, it is the referee’s discretion on match redo’s. Disconnects and technical difficulties will be looked at on a case by case basis.


Q: Why not Dragon’s Refuge? Why Delta Station only?

A: We want to keep the tournament setting competitive and consistent. We also want to follow Ranked Mode settings, and the only map playable in Ranked is Delta Station.


Q: Will there be any rules regarding target banning an individual player?

A: Learn to play more Hypers! ;)
