General:

Splat Zones only single-elimination tournament, where each team can ban three maps to play from. Teams that lose in the earliest round(s) are welcome to continue in our Underground Bracket. Teams MUST check-in on our Discord - where you can find more details of the tournament as well.

Format

Format is a single elimination tournament with an "underground bracket" that guarantees at least two sets for most participants. If you lose in the first round (and/or second round check the #announcements when we begin!) you get seeded to another bracket with other teams who lost. If you do not wish to take part in the underground bracket please say so in the #match-results so we can avoid any unnecessary byes!

Setup:

Check-in

All teams that want to play must check-in. Check-in opens 60 minutes before the tournament starts and closes 10 minutes before to allow some time for TO's to organize the bracket and change the seeding if needed. Last time to sign up is 15 minutes before the tournament starts. There is no exceptions made for latecomers.

Roster

One player may only play for one team for the entire tournament. Submitting roster beforehand is not mandatory but doing so is recommended for pick-ups. You can do it either with a DM to me or a post to #helpdesk.

Map/Mode selection

Mode for this tournament is Splat Zones only. Host sets map selection to "Random". Maps that are banned by teams are to be excluded from the random selection ( #bans-and-picks for the list by every team). Every map that is played in that set is also to be excluded in order to avoid duplicate maps.

Teams can ban up to 3 maps. This is to be done while checking in or before in #helpdesk. Alternatively you may DM me or @earth22 and we won't reveal your bans before the check-in period is over.

Winning Condition

Best of 3 for every round before Top 4. Best of 5 for semi-finals and the bronze match. Best of 7 for grand finals. Same goes for Underground Bracket.

Rules

Time limits

You have a total of 35 minutes to finish a set of Bo3 and 50 minutes to finish a set of Bo5. This time is from the result posted on #match-results that lets you know the opponent you are facing till you post the result of the match in question to the said channel. There will be an extra 10 minute grace period at the start of the tournament.

Hearing back from your opponent shouldn't take longer than 6 minutes. For everyone to join the room after it has been created and the opponent that you are talking to has been notified shouldn't take longer than 7 minutes. Subbing shouldn't take longer than 1 minute.

If your opponent is holding up the set let us know on #helpdesk or both teams might be punished for holding up the tournament. Please communicate any delays with us so we can run the tournament smoothly!

Hosting

Player that has a stable wired connection that is located relatively close to everyone playing (so for example the only American player shouldn't host if the other 7 are European) should volunteer to host. If no volunteer can be found the higher seed decides one between their players to host.

If a map that is supposed to be excluded is selected due to host's error the hosting team automatically loses that map even if the game wasn't started.

Disconnections

Every team is allowed two (2) replays due to a DC during the tournament. DC is not granted if:

1) The opponent's (the team that does not have a DC) score has passed 50

OR

2) Over 2 minutes 30 seconds have passed in the game clock

OR

3) The team with the DC doesn't stop playing immediately after the DC happening.

If host DC's while the game is in progress the team that wasn't hosting takes the win for that map. If host DC's before game starts (players can move) room should be remade but with a different host.

Lag

If a player you are facing is having connection problems to a level where it's greatly interfering with the game you can DM me after the tournament is done with video proof and we will consider taking action against this player for our future events. Notice that latency (that is caused by players living around the world) is not considered lag in this rule.(edited)

General Conduct

These tournaments are meant to be fun so treat everyone with respect!  Inappropriate team names or player names aren't allowed. If you experience bad conduct, please reach out to the TOs and let us know what's happened.  If you have any questions or need any help, reach out on our Discord .
