Tournament Rules

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This tournament will have a double elimination bracket. This means that you must lose 2 sets in order to be eliminated from the tournament. Everyone will be in the winners bracket (those who have not lost a set yet), and once sets start, the winners will advance in the winners bracket, while the losers will be sent to the losers bracket and face others in that bracket. Those who lose in the losers bracket will be eliminated from the tournament.

In grand finals, in order for the winner of the winners bracket to win, he must win one set vs the winner of the losers bracket. For the losers bracket winner to win the tournament, he must do a bracket reset vs the winners bracket winner (send him to the losers bracket, technically), and win another set.

This gives people more chances in the tournament and is a more accurate representation of everyone's skill.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Each set will be a Bo3 (best of 3), meaning that you must win a best of 2 MATCHES out of 3 to win the set. Winners finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals will be a Bo5.

2. To make the connection more stable, all matches except for winners, losers and grand finals will be done in a separate 1v1 room. Set up private calls if you guys need to.

3. After a set has ended, please report your score to me (Crit) and tell me who won and lost. I will update the bracket after that

4. Players are allowed to have a lag test/hand warmer. Please make sure that your connection is as stable as possible this tournament. After doing the lag test/hand warmer, quit the match and start the actual set.

5.Gentlemen's clause: If both players agree to it, then you may select any stage you want. However, lag is no longer my issue (Don't worry. If it does lag, then simply play on the stages I listed down. They are the most net-friendly for us).

6. Disputes about lag: I understand that there may be a situation where matches are legitimately unplayable due to the lag. Please have a few tries before notifying me (Crit) about it. If there IS an issue, then I'll hop into the room and see the connection between both of you separately. If I experience significant lag for one of the individuals, then I'll have to DQ them from that set. If you guys can play, even if there is a little lag, then please do. This is more of a last resort thing.

7. Character Selection: Both players must select a character they want to play as and play their first match. You do not have to play your main/sub, but the first match will be based on a double-blind format (selecting a character you were intending to pick, regardless of what the other selects).

After the first match is done, the WINNER of that match must state whether they are going to switch characters or not. If the winner is going to switch characters, they must do it first before the loser selects their character. The loser will then have the option to select a different character if they wish (i.e. for counterpick purposes). This is repeated until the set is won by a player.

8. This should be obvious, but be respectful lol. This tournament is for fun at the end of the day. We don't need people to start raging a ton and start being an asshole to others due to a set. If that happens, I'll straight up DQ you from the tournament. Use your salt for nutrition, not for anger

9. Have fun!

Note: These rules are typical of a regular FGC tournament. I just adjusted a few of them for the online environment.
