RULES
1. Tournament Format
- 2 Open double elimination bracket qualifiers, one for NA one for EU.
- The top 2 of the NA qualifier and the top 2 of the EU qualifier directly qualifies for the offline event.
- All games are played in a best of three format, except the Upper bracket final and Lower bracket Final that are played in a best of five.
- DreamHack will provide travel and accommodation for the teams that qualify through the online qualifier
- Day 1 of DreamHack Winter 2016 there will be a double elimination BYOC qualifier where the top 4 qualifies for the main tournament. To be able to participate in this one you need a LAN Seat and a computer to play on from the LAN area.
Tournament Format offline
- Eight teams in total
- Two groups of 4 teams, best of 3 matches.
- Double elimination groups.
- Two teams advances into semi-finals.
- Semi-finals and finals best of five.

Tournament procedure
Check-in
- During the check-in phase, the team’s designated captain will need to confirm their spot in the tournament by “checking-in” on the tournament page during the check-in time period which will start 1h30min before the tournament starts and ends 30 min before the tournament starts.
Tournament start
- Once the tournament has started, the teams must contact each other on Discord https://discord.gg/amHURTs
- Teams will have 15 minutes from the time the match room was created in order to complete the veto process and custom game lobby creation, then start the game.
- If a team does not show up, connect all 6 players to the game lobby or does not create the matchroom, the opposing team must take a screenshot including a timestamp and contact the admin on discord.
Match start
- If a match is involuntary interrupted (player crash, network cuts, etc) the team will have to continue until the issue is resolved. If a player disconnects within the first 60 seconds of the match, the game may be restarted as long as an admin and the enemy team are notified inside that time period.
Post match
- Once the match has ended, the winning team must provide screenshots or recordings as evidence of the victory.
Game version
- All matches played will use the latest version of Overwatch. If your game isn't up to date and you are unable to start the match on time it will result in disqualification. Please double check your game is up to date prior to the Tournament starting.
Player settings:
- All 3rd party software that isn't allowed by the game publisher and that can give an unfair advantage to a player or team are classed as cheating.

- All matches will be played via the Custom Game Lobby system in Overwatch.
- All custom game lobbies must use the following settings:

Map selection process
Team that is in the upper part of the bracket is called A
Team that is in the lower part of the bracket is called B
Best of three match:
- Team A will drop two maps.
- Team B will drop two maps.
- Team A will drop one map.
- Team B will drop one map.
- Team B will pick 1 map into the pool.
- Team A will pick 1 map into the pool.
- Team A will drop one map.
- Team B will drop one map.
- Team A will drop one map.
- Team B will drop one map.
- The last remaining map will be the first map to be played in the series.
- Team A will pick their starting side on map one.
- The loser of map one will select map two from the map pool. The winner of map one will select their starting side.
- If the match is tied 1-1, the remaining map will be played. The winner of map two will select their starting side.
Best of five match:
- Team A will drop two maps.
- Team B will drop two maps.
- Team A will pick 1 map into the pool.
- Team B will pick 1 map into the pool.
- Team B will drop one map.
- Team A will drop one map.
- Team A will pick 1 map into the pool.
- Team B will pick 1 map into the pool.
- Team A will drop one map.
- Team B will drop one map.
- The last remaining map will be the first map to be played in the series.
- Team A will pick their starting side on map one.
- The loser of map one will select map two from the remaining 4 maps. The winner of map one will select their starting side.
- This process repeats after each game until one team has won three maps out of the five maps.
3. General rules
- The team on the upper part of the bracket will be responsible for the creation of the custom game lobby in Overwatch where the game will be played.
- Teams must consist of a minimum of 6 players.
- Both teams are required to take screenshots of key events during the game, these may be requested as proof upon receiving a complaint. To take a screenshot you need to press the print screen button. Screenshots can be found here - \Documents\Overwatch\Screenshots\GameClientApp
- The winning team is required to provide a screenshot in order to confirm their win, this will be requested if there is any conflict.
- Teams may only participate in the qualifier for the region they are based.
- Once a team participates in a qualifier for one region, they may not participate in another region's qualifier regardless of if they have moved bases.
- Each team is responsible for technical issues that may arise during or before a match, such as power outages or network issues. Teams must play with the remaining players until the affected players are able to rejoin.
- A game may be rehosted in the first 60 seconds of a game starting, as long as the opposing team and an admin are notified within this time.
- Players can only send game related messages once they are in-game.
Roster changes
- Once qualified, the team must consist of 4 players from the roster that qualified.
- Teams must confirm their roster and organization at least 20 days before the offline event.
Pausing
- A team may only pause if there is a technical difficulty. After pausing, an administrator must be notified.
- The pause may only last for 5 min in total of a best of’s series.
- If a game is paused without a reasonable explanation such as a technical difficulty the game might result in a forfeit.- In the case of severe roster changes or a line-up name change, teams must claim their qualification with proof they maintain 60% of the original line-up.
Game format
There are four game modes available in Overwatch:
- Assault
- Escort
- Hybrid
- Control
Win conditions:
- Assault: The team that secures the most capture points within the time limit wins.
- Escort: The team that reaches the final checkpoint with the fastest time wins. If neither team reaches the final checkpoint, then the team that pushed the payload furthest will win. Teams are responsible for keeping track of their own time.
- Hybrid: This game mode comprises of both Assault and Escort game mode conditions. See above for those win conditions.
- Control: These maps are played as best of 5. The team that captures 3 control points wins. Teams are required to take screenshots of each control point capture as evidence.
- Tied games: If a game is tied on an Assault, Escort or Hybrid map, a predetermined control map will be played in a best of 3 format. The winner of this control map will win the game.

- Round of 256: Ilios
- Round of 128: Lijiang Tower
- Round of 64: Nepal
- Round of 32: Ilios
- Round of 16: Lijiang Tower
- Round of 8: Nepal
- Quarter Finals: Ilios
- Semi Finals: Lijiang Tower
- Final: Nepal
- In the lobby settings you must set Control Game Mode Format as Best of 3.
4. Code of Conduct/Behaviour
Forbidden ingame actions:
- Any form of external script is forbidden.
- Using bugs which change the game principle.
- All 3rd party software that isn't allowed by the game publisher and that can give an unfair advantage to a player or team are classed as cheating.
- Failing to adhere to the above can result in disqualification.
Sanctions
- A player may be cautioned and receive a ban if he commits any of the following offences:
- Uses insulting language and/or gestures towards other players.
- Is guilty of unsportsmanlike behaviour in a match.
- Ghosting
Cheating
- All cheating offenses are dealt with using Blizzard’s anti-cheat.
Substitutes
- Incase of an emergency, one substitute is allowed in the Tournament.
Names/Team Names
- Team Names should not contain any offensive or racist content. If you come across a player/team breaking this rule then please submit proof with relevant evidence (Screenshot/Recording) so action can be taken against the player/team in question.

Livestreaming
- Players are allowed to live stream their games in the qualification stages.
- All matches in the main event will be livestreamed exclusively by DreamHack
- All matches in the main tournament will be started by a DreamHack Tournament referee
- Team captains must be available to add tournament officials or official streamers to their Battlenet friendlist.
