The player’s name who is on TOP has White.

Time Control: 45 minute with 5 second increment. Games can last 90+ minutes.

Round 1: Wednesday March 7, 2018 7:00pm Central.

Round 2: Wednesday March 14, 2018 7:00pm Central.

Round 3: Wednesday March 21, 2018 7:00pm Central.

Round 4: Wednesday March 28, 2018 7:00pm Central.

This is for Houston scholastic players only. This is a private tournament, and I'm only inviting a few people because this format is new. I hope not to offend anyone by forgetting to invite them.

I was a tournament director for a National Online Chess Championship, so I am familiar with "online chess rules" and I know it can be  confusing for the players who aren't experienced with computers.

Rescheduling Rounds: Players may politely try to request to reschedule a round. If you can't make it to the Wednesday 7pm time,  please expect it to be marked as a forfeit loss, and don't be mad at your opponent for not rescheduling.

If you can't make it to a round, please contact jeffreyashton@gmail.com and I can try to help with arrangements.

The tournament will be successful if people follow instructions and don't miss their rounds. Parents should help their kids stay on schedule and use the website correctly.

Only play in this tournament if you can commit to this schedule.

Please spend some time to get familiar with the lichess.org website.

Make sure that you know how to use the lichess.org website (not the app). I know this works on the website, and there might be problems with the app.

The time control is 45 minutes with a 5 second increment (5 seconds will be added every move). Please plan for these games to last up to 90 minutes finishing around 8:30pm central.

Games will be played Wednesdays, 7pm central on lichess.org.

The games are USCF unrated.

The player's whose name is on top should issue the challenge. Make sure to issue the challenge with the correct colors. The player receiving the challenge should make sure that the pairings are correct according to the instructions.

Please add the other players to your friends list by "following" them on LiChess.Org.

You can click on the link: https://lichess.org/@/jeffreyashton and then click on the "thumbs up" button to follow the player.

When it is round time, please challenge the player to a 45 minute game with a 5 second increment. Use the UNRATED time control. Again, play according to your color assignment.

If you wish to use a different LiChess account name, email jeffreyashton@gmail.com.

In these matches, there are NO TAKEBACKS for mouse slips. Change your LiChess SETTINGS so people can't request takebacks. Players should be careful making moves.

No outside assistance: Players are not allowed to discuss games in progress, use any reference material, etc.

Notation is optional, and recommended. The server will also notate the game for you. In the future we may ask that players use Google Hangouts while playing, to increase the formality of the games.

Using a chessboard (optional): Players MAY have a chess board and notation sheet set up next to their computer, while the parent inputs the move on the computer. Players are not allowed to use the chess board for game analysis. Players may not use this board to "try out" moves. They are to use the chess board and notation sheet so they can play under "normal" tournament conditions.

Please focus on the game (don't multi-task). We try to invite mature, serious players who have demonstrated great sportsmanship.
