How does this work?
Winner's bracket games will be held one by one, partially on a schedule, partially on a "who wants to go next?" basis. I will try to make accommodations regarding time availability, and will postpone races of late joiners until the last possible moment, but do keep in mind that I will have to mark you as DNS once your absence starts holding up the tournament. If you have to leave early, it is your responsibility to nag to me about ensuring your races are held sooner rather than later. Same for if you have to leave temporarily midway through for stuff like dinner etc.
I just want to play MTA and deliver cars!
During the game, the two players competing are formally tracked. Everyone else can join in on the race for fun, regardless of whether they are a participant in the tournament or not. Their performance during these races will not be noted down and won't have any effect on the games.
How do I know when it's my turn?
I will try to regularly verbalize the upcoming matches on stream so you don't get unexpectedly surprised. I will also try to output to the ingame chat whose turn it is for record keeping purposes.
Do I need to do anything special?
When/before it is your turn, just make sure you are in game so the race can commence without delay. You do not need to stream, and you do not need to be in a Discord call. Though I might look into if I can facilitate both on my stream if you do choose to do these things.
Can I listen to your stream while I am doing my race?
You can choose yourself whether you want to mute the stream or not during your turn. Some people might find the knowledge of what is going on from commentary to add extra pressure, whereas others may want to hear it.
How long is each race?
Races will likely be Bite Sized Chunks (5), however if time becomes an issue I may shrink them down to Tetrads (4) or Post SSA Instadeliverieses (3) on later rounds.
Can I still sign up?
There are slots remaining for late signupees. These will be filled in descending order. If noone signs up, that round is marked as an automatic win for their competitor. Signups are open until no 'unplayed' slots remain.
Doesn't Double Elimination take an eternidad?
This is a double elimination tournament. However, due to time constraints the loser's bracket will be held all at once instead in the form of a single Bite Sized Chunk (5) or One List (10) race for each round.
Who does commentary?
Commentary is a thing I will have to do as well. If you're interested in co-commentating for a brief moment, let me know. If you're interested in being interviewed, do inform me as well.
How long take?
According to my calculations, if every game is played as Bite Sized Chunks, including the second grand final and late signupee rounds, with loser's brackets games merged as stated above, there will be a total of 205 exported vehicles, so close to a Full Experience race. However, between waiting times in between games etc, the whole event is likely to take longer than Full Experience race. I will try to hurry it along though and keep downtime to a minimum.
How were matches assigned?
Players were assigned slots randomly by me slapping the "randomize" button on here a couple times, but I did make some manual swaps after for scheduling purposes, so early leavers are competing one another and late joiners are competing one another:
For transparency: These players were manually assigned their slot by me (by swapping them with each another)
Nvm, I lost track myself
I took a look at the schedule, and wow it's messed up!
Yeah, I had to bottom load the schedule a bit to allow people who have to leave early a chance to reach the semi finals at least. My hope is they'll get eliminated early so I can straighten it out a bit on the day of :P
