(Mostly Xanadu Rules)

Double Elimination

Bo3, Grand Finals Bo5

STAGE STRIKING

Starter Stages: BF, FD, Yoshi's, Dream Land 64, FoD

Counterpick Stages: PS1 (Only available through subsequent stage picking, such as Game 2 onwards)

Winner of Game 1 bans 1 stage, they have previously won on during the match

PAUSING

Pause setting should be off. However, if it is not, pausing is only legal while either player remains upon their OWN respawn platform, and only for the purpose of summoning a tournament official or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a stock loss to the player who pauses the game. If the pause causes the opponent to lose a stock, the player who pauses forfeits 2 stocks.

CONTROLLER DISCONNECTS

If a player’s controller becomes disconnected for any reason other than outside interference (for example, if a player walks by a setup and accidentally trips on a cord and unplugs it), it counts as if the player paused the game and follows the same penalties. (An example would be a pro controller battery dying mid set).

STALLING

Stalling, or intentionally making the game unplayable, is banned and at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling includes but is not limited to becoming invisible, continuing infinites past 300%, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the game for the player that initiated the action.

SUDDEN DEATH

If a game goes to Sudden Death, the winner is determined by stocks and percentage at the time the game ends. If both players are tied in stocks the player with the lower percentage is the winner. In the event of a percentage tie, or a game in which both players lose their last stock simultaneously, a 1 stock tiebreaker will be played with a 3 minute time limit. The results of an in-game 300% Sudden Death do not count. If Sudden Death occurs in a Sudden Death game, this process is repeated.

CHARACTER COLOR

If there is a dispute in character colors or team colors (i.e. both players want to use green fox), the players will play one RPS game to determine who gets the color.

WARM-UPS
Warm-up periods, button checks, and “handwarmers” may not exceed 30 seconds on the game clock. Violation of this rule may result in an automatic forfeit at the discretion of the TO.

COACHING

Coaching Coaching, defined as deliberately giving or receiving advice to/from another person during a Match, is not allowed and may result in penalties for both parties.

**BEFORE GRAND FINALS**

GAME 1:

Before a set begins, both players will do RPS. The winner picks their port and character first. Winner of RPS Strikes 1 stage, Loser strikes 2, and Winner strikes 1 more. The remaining stage is the choice for the first game.

GAME 2 AND ONWARDS:

The winner is able to change their character first if they want to, and then the loser will follow. The winner of Game 1 will strike a stage, and the loser may pick the stage.

**GRAND FINALS**

Bo5, Only one round of RPS. (Shortened from 2 Sets of Bo5), No stage banning.
